FAQ
Ask us anything. Start with these.
If your question isn't here, the contact form reaches a human who packs boxes, not a ticket queue.
Getting started
How do I open an account with Oakmont?
Fill in the quote form or contact form and we'll come back within one working day. Once we've agreed rates (usually our published rate card), we set up your client portal and your account is live — there's no setup fee and the £29 monthly account fee starts after your first free month.
Is there a minimum order or volume commitment?
No. Send one carton or one container. The only thing volume changes is your per-unit prep rate, which gets cheaper as you grow.
How quickly can I start sending stock?
Typically within a couple of working days of your account being confirmed. You announce your first inbound through the portal, ship it to us, and we take it from there.
Do I need to give you access to my Amazon Seller Central?
For FBA work, yes — you invite our operations user with limited permissions (manage inventory and FBA shipments only). We provide a step-by-step guide during onboarding. You stay in full control of your account and can revoke access at any time.
Can I visit the warehouse?
Yes, by appointment. We'd rather show you the operation than describe it.
FBA prep
What does your FBA prep price include?
Everything in the standard job: goods-in inspection, poly bagging where required, FNSKU labelling and forwarding into Amazon-ready cartons. We don't charge a separate line for each poly bag.
Do you apply suffocation warning labels?
Yes — poly bags with an opening of 5 inches or more get a suffocation warning as part of standard prep, in line with Amazon's requirements.
How fast is prep turnaround?
Our target is 24 hours from stock arriving checked-in to prepped and ready to ship into Amazon. Complex jobs like large bundle builds can take longer — we'll tell you before we start, not after.
Can you handle expiry-dated products?
Yes. We apply expiry labels (£0.12 per unit), check dates against Amazon's minimum shelf-life rules at check-in, and flag short-dated stock before it becomes a problem.
Do you prep hazmat products?
We handle limited hazmat categories with a £0.10 per unit surcharge. Tell us what you're shipping before it arrives — some categories we can't store, and we'd rather say so upfront.
Fulfilment & storage
What's your dispatch cut-off?
Orders received by 2pm ship the same working day. Orders after 2pm ship next working day.
Which couriers do you use?
Royal Mail and major parcel carriers, chosen per order by size, weight and service level. Postage is charged at carrier rates on top of the pick fee.
How is storage billed?
Weekly, on space actually occupied: £3.25 per pallet, £0.90 per shelf bin, or £1.55 per cubic metre for loose cartons. Stock inbound for FBA prep gets its first 30 days free.
What happens when a delivery arrives short or damaged?
We count every inbound against your announcement. Any shortage, overage or damage is logged in your portal the same day with photo evidence, and you decide the next step — chase the supplier, claim, or write it off.
Do you handle returns?
Yes — customer returns and Amazon removal orders. Each unit is inspected, graded through our 3-tier process (visual, component photo, electrical test where relevant) and dispositioned per your standing instructions: restock, hold, return to you, or dispose.
Pricing & billing
Are the prices on your website the prices I'll pay?
Yes. The rate card on our pricing page is the rate card your invoices are built from, exception fees included. Custom rates only come into play above roughly 10,000 units a month.
How does invoicing work?
Charges accrue to your billing ledger in the portal as they happen — prep when it's done, storage weekly, fulfilment per order. You can see the month building in real time; invoices are issued monthly.
What are exception fees?
Charges for things that break the normal flow: unbooked deliveries (£25), sorting mixed unlabelled cartons (£0.20 per unit), SKUs that arrive without being on your announcement (£0.30 per unit). They're published so you can avoid them — announce your inbounds and they mostly never apply.
Can I leave whenever I want?
Yes. The contract is month-to-month. If you leave, we'll ship your stock wherever you tell us at our standard rates — no exit fees, no held-hostage inventory.
Do prices change?
Rates are reviewed annually with 30 days' written notice. We don't change prices mid-relationship without telling you.
